Magnetic resonance: discovery, investigations, and applications

S.I. Vavilov Institute of History of Natural Sciences and Technology, Russian Academy of Sciences, ul. Obrucheva 30A, korp. B, Moscow, 117861, Russian Federation

The history of the development of the theoretical ideas and experimental methods of magnetic resonance, as well as the applications of these methods in modern natural science, technology, and medicine, are outlined, with allowance for the contribution of Russian researchers. An assessment of some promising trends of studies and applications of magnetic resonance is given.
