Mikhail Vasil’evich Lomonosov, an outstanding figure in Russian culture, lived and worked at a time of radical changes, both globally and in Russia. Lomonosov was highly instrumental in the development of national science and education, as symbolized by the Academy of Sciences and Moscow University, and his influence has since been felt throughout the history of the country.
