The search for light dark matter at the NA64 experiment

In this review we describe the main working and future accelerator experiments on the search for light dark matter. The special attention is paid to the experiment NA64 at CERN constructed for the search for light hypothetical particles including light dark matter. The main principles of the NA64 work are described including the main results obtained at NA64 and other similar experiments. The future NA64 light dark matter discovery potential is summarized including NA64 experiment with muon beam and other accelerator experiments. A review of the main light dark matter models including the model with dark photon is also given.
