Electronics of thin wideband polymer layers

Institute of Molecular and Crystal Physics, Ufa Research Center, Russian Academy of Sciences, prosp. Oktyabrya 151, Ufa, 450075, Russian Federation

How conducting polymers were created is discussed and their properties are reviewed. Special charge transport features of phthalidecontaining polymers — the injection mechanism, high conductivity, and the dependence on boundary conditions — are described. Conditions for a polymer film to change to highly conducting and superconducting states are examined. Prospects for the use of wideband polymer materials in electronic device applications are discussed.
