Лазерное ускорение ионов для адронной терапии

Обсуждаются перспективы использования лазерной плазмы в качестве источника ионов высоких энергий для адронной лучевой терапии. Подход основывается на предсказаниях теории и результатах экспериментов, в которых ускорение ионов наблюдается регулярным образом при взаимодействии мощного лазерного излучения с веществом. По сравнению с синхротронами и циклотронами, используемыми в центрах лучевой терапии, лазерный ускоритель имеет ряд преимуществ, связанных с его компактностью и упрощением системы доставки быстрых ионов от ускорителя в процедурные кабинеты. Спе­циальным образом приготовленные мишени позволяют получать требуемые радиационной терапией ионные пучки высокого качества.
