Collective plasma excitations in two-dimensional electron systems

Institute of Solid-State Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences, Chernogolovka, Moscow Region, Russian Federation

The latest results on the study of collective plasma excitations in two-dimensional electron systems based on AlGaAs/GaAs, AlGaAs/AlAs, MgZnO/ZnO nanostructures, and graphene are considered. Special attention is paid to the interaction of two-dimensional plasma with light. The results of experimental work on the discovery of a new family of plasma oscillations are presented. Possible directions for the further development of experiment and theory are discussed.
