The review is arbitrarily divided into three sections: 1) underwater sound, 2) aerial acoustics, and 3) medical applications. Each section provides historical information on the most important developments during the war years, as well as related progress after Victory. The physical phenomena underlying these technical solutions are outlined, and the acoustic specificity is emphasized. Typically, an English full text is available in about 1 month from the date of publication of the original article.
