Cherenkov detectors for high energy neutrino astrophysics

This review discusses the current status of and prospects for large-scale Cherenkov detectors that operate in deep-underwater- and under-ice environments (Lake Baikal, Mediterranean sea, Antarctica) and which have, in the last decades, become the primary tool for measuring high energy neutrino fluxes.
