Cherenkov water detector NEVOD
A.A. Petrukhin National Research Nuclear University ‘MEPhI’, Kashirskoe shosse 31, Moscow, 115409, Russian Federation
A world-unique multipurpose Cherenkov water detector, the NEVOD facility uses quasispherical measuring modules to explore all the basic components of cosmic rays at the Earth surface, including neutrinos. Currently, the experimental complex includes the Cherenkov water detector, the calibration telescope system and the coordinate detector. This paper traces the basic development stages of NEVOD, examines research directions, presents the results obtained, including the search of the solution of the "muon puzzle", and discusses possible future directions.
