High-power diode-pumped alkali lasers (Celebrating 50 years of the laser (Scientific session of the General Meeting of the Physical Sciences Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 13 December 2010))

Editorial footnote: The paper reflects the contents of a similar report presented at the scientific session of the General Meeting of the RAS Physical Sciences Division of 13 December 2010 devoted to the 50th anniversary of the laser and belongs to the materials of this session, which were for the most part published earlier (see Usp. Fiz. Nauk 181 (8) 867–903 (2011) [Phys. Usp. 54 (8) 837 (2011)]). The delay in the publication of this paper is due to its late receipt by the editorial office.
