Instability and reconstruction of a charged liquid surface

Osipyan Institute of Solid State Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences, Akademika Osip'yana str. 2, Chernogolovka, Moscow Region, 142432, Russian Federation

This review presents a systematic summary of the information collected to date on the instability and reconstruction of the flat charged surface of a cryogenic liquid under various conditions in terms of unit cell geometry, external electrostatics, filling degree, etc. Prospects for future research are explored.
