Superconductivity and elementary particlesLebedev Physical Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, Leninsky prosp. 53, Moscow, 119991, Russian Federation The article contains a brief historical review of the mutual influences on one another of elementary-particle theory and many-body theory. The main attention is devoted to the idea of spontaneous symmetry breaking and the unified theory of particles based on it. The intimate and far reaching analogy between unified theory and the theory of superconductivity is traced. Some consequences of this analogy for particle physics and cosmology are considered.
