Представлены современные исследования фуллеренов — кластеров, включающих в себя 60, 70, 76, 84 и т.д. атома углерода, которые находятся на поверхности сферы или эллипсоида. Рассмотрена структура фуллеренов, методы их генерации, процессы, протекающие с их участием, а также образование фуллеренов в естественных газовых системах. Представлены свойства фуллеритов кристаллов углерода, состоящих из фуллеренов, а также свойства из соединений. Табл. 5. Ил. 31. Библиогр. ссылок 169.
