We consider the scientific and applied research work of Academician V.A. Kotelnikov in the pre-war and wartime periods (1932—1946) focused on the development and creation of encrypted telephone communication systems, the creation of cryptographically secure equipment based on research in the sampling of speech signals, and the development of a theory of potential noise immunity when transmitting information through noisy channels.
