Experimental plasma relativistic microwave electronics

Prokhorov General Physics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, ul. Vavilova 38, Moscow, 119991, Russian Federation

Experimental studies in plasma relativistic microwave electronics performed at Prokhorov General Physics Institute are reviewed. Radiation of electromagnetic waves by a high-current relativistic electron beam injected into plasma is explored. Experimental data are compared with the results of an analytical theory and numerical simulation. Fast electronic frequency tuning of microwave radiation has been realized in an experimental setup, implementation of this technique in vacuum relativistic microwave electronics being very problematic. This is the main accomplishment of the research from the perspective of possible usage in various applications.
