High frequency size effect study of the Fermi surface of metals

Osipyan Institute of Solid State Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences, Akademika Osip'yana str. 2, Chernogolovka, Moscow Region, 142432, Russian Federation

This paper reviews experimental and theoretical work on the study of the Fermi surface of pure metals using high frequency size effects. Particular attention is given to little known new ballistic effects such as the time of flight effect, multichannel size effect and nonlinear size effect.
