The basic principles of light steering by means of metasurfaces are reviewed. The metasurfaces are able to control the phase, amplitude, polarization and frequency of the light passed through them. The formulation of generalized Snell's law is presented. The ways to realize the metasurfaces and the methods of phase shift within 2π using resonances are considered. The overview of experiments and recent achievements in the field of the light steering by means of the metasurfaces is also presented. Possible applications of metasurfaces and further development of this paradigm are considered too.
