Current results on the asymptotics of dynamo modelsa Lomonosov Moscow State University, Faculty of Physics, Leninskie Gory 1 build. 2, Moscow, 119991, Russian Federation b Lomonosov Moscow State University, Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics, Leninskie Gory 1 build. 2, Moscow, 119991, Russian Federation Magnetic field generation and evolution models are currently available for different celestial bodies that are capable of describing a large body of observational material. Despite recent decades of great successes in numerical magnetic hydrodynamics and in detailed research into some specific problems, asymptotic methods still need to be used to clarify the magnetic field generation mechanism in dynamo theory. In this review, current asymptotic methods are presented together with the results of their application to the simulation of solar, stellar and galactic magnetic activities.
