Another route to the Lorentz transformations

Lebedev Physical Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, Leninsky prosp. 53, Moscow, 119991, Russian Federation

This paper uses the Galilean relativity principle and the dependence of the rate of a clock on its velocity to derive the Lorentz transformations (LTs). Analyzing different ways of deriving the LTs provides different perspectives for them and their implications as well as making them more accessible to a wide range of readers with an interest in relativistic physics.
