A.I. Akhiezer Institute for Theoretical Physics at the National Science Center "Kharkov Institute of Physics and Technology", National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine: origins, events, facts, comments

The titled institute is the only historical example in Ukraine of a scientific school maintaining research continuity for as long as over 80 years. Today it seems appropriate to remember the origins, to reflect on where this longevity came from and to take a perspective look at numerous behind-the-scenes legends and fiction stories that have grown around the Institute.
