Electrooptics and photonics of liquid crystals

A joint scientific session of the Physical Sciences Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and the Joint Physical Society of the Russian Federation “Liquid crystals” was held on 28 February 2005 in the conference hall of the P N Lebedev Physics Institute, RAS. The following reports were presented at the session:

(1) Dolganov V K (Institute of Solid State Physics, RAS, Chernogolovka, Moscow region) “Structures and phase transitions in thin liquid-crystal films”;
(2) Palto S P (A V Shubnikov Institute of Crystallography, RAS, Moscow) “Electrooptics and photonics of liquid crystals”.
