Research on waveguide magnetooptics is examined. A theory is presented of planar waveguides with dielectric permittivity and magnetic susceptibility taken into account. The properties of epitaxial films of ferrite garnets that determine their waveguide characteristics are discussed. Examples of functional elements of integrated optics that employ magnetic materials are given.
