What led you into science and your chosen area of research?

The fact that I have been fascinated by Astronomy since the age of 10.


Can you describe the results in your paper and their importance for your field?

Verification of the General Theory of Relativity for extremely strong gravitational fields and searching for extraterrestrial life.


What research projects are you working on at the moment?

On observational investigations of black holes in binary systems and galactic cores.


What do you think will be the next big breakthrough in your field?

Once “Millimetron” is started, we will be able to prove the existence of event horizon for black holes.


What book are you reading right now?

"Gasdynamics of Close Binary Systems" by A.G.Zhilkin, D.B.Bisikalo, and A.A.Boyarchuk.

What has been the most exciting moment in your career so far?

Being elected for an acting member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
